Attorney General: Airbnb has made $40M illegally in NYC

More than 70 percent of Airbnb rentals in New York City since 2010 appear to violate the law, generating $304 million in host revenue and $40 million in fees for the venture-backed company, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman 's office alleges in a report issued Thursday . Airbnb and its hosts also owe $33.5 million in unpaid hotel taxes, he contends.
