Born in Michigan to Mabel McKissack Featherston and Dr. Anthony G. Featherston, Elizabeth was married to the now deceased Howard Roland Quick, a former executive of AT&T and principal of the public relations firms Reavey and Quick International, and Quick Associates. Elizabeth moved from Detroit to New York, where she grew up and went to school.
