Brazilian handbag and accessories designer Carlos Falchi died Friday night at age 70 after a short illness, according to a spokeswoman for the designer. Falchi began his career in the late Sixties as an artist living in New York's Greenwich Village, making his own clothes from patchwork leather that he bleached and dyed in his bathtub.
