jazzville skyline: when it was a village

There's a phenomenal documentary out now that, besides bringing back alot of memories for me, is a capsule of a time when New York was not only the centre of the world, but it also was the magnet for every singer/songwriter who had something to say "Greenwich Village: Music That Defined A Generation" is not only filled with that great music, but also interviews with many of the artists who were there, as well as a landscape of what it was like being there, hanging out in Washington Square park with hundreds of others with 'guitars on their backs' And you have to remember the time itselfthis was during the Vietnam war, when protest was king, and many of the 'creative community' were, not only against the war, but also of a mind to write it in a songEven singing at Washington Square park was banned for awhileIt was an interesting time indeed Here, you get all the flavor that sets you back ...
